Reservation Procedures
All dinner reservations must be made in writing and sent by US mail. In the spirit of fairness, we consider and book reservations sent to us in order of the postmark or in the case of the national courier services the day it was sent. (Since we look at the postal mark for the date mailed, sending requests by Fedex, UPS, DHL, or any other courier service is for all purposes a waste of money). Those reservations dropped in our mailbox with no postage or postmark will not be considered.
The reservation request must include the following:
- The name of the person the dinner reservation is to be listed under.
- The address and telephone number of that person and where you want us to send the confirmation letter. The phone number is a must.
- Please list 3 times (using the seating times listed above) that you are willing to dine. We will do our best to accommodate your first request but we cannot guarantee it. The more flexible you are the greater the chance that we can accommodate you.
- IF YOU ARE REQUESTING A RESERVATION OF 10 OR MORE PEOPLE, YOU MUST INDICATE IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BE SEATED AT 2 OR MORE TABLES. (We always attempt to have the tables in as close proximity to each other as possible.)
- Indicate the number of people in your party. Due to physical dining room limitations, we cannot seat any parties of more than 10 people at one table, and we have very few tables that can seat 10 people. Additionally, these constraints limit our ability to guarantee seating / table arrangement requests if you request that a large group be split at two or more tables or with other parties.
- For vegetarians we have vegetarian selections on the menu.
- A $15 per person deposit, which will be applied to your dinner bill, is required to confirm your reservation. Please make your check payable to Taughannock Farms Inn, and send it to: 2030 Gorge Rd., Trumansburg, NY 14886. We do not accept cash or credit cards for deposits.
After we receive your dinner reservation request and deposit we will either send you a letter or e-mail a letter confirming your reservation or if we are unable to accommodate the request we will return your deposit check. We will begin to send out letters January 15, 2012.
Reservation Policies
Reservation Time
Since this is an extremely busy day and other guests will be dining after you, your reservation will be held for a maximum of 20 minutes past your confirmed time. If you are late, you risk losing your reservation and your deposits.
Our goal is to provide each and every guest with a happy experience on this very busy day. Please note that we plan for a 2 hour dining time for each reservation. It is very important that everyone recognizes that there are other parties that will be dining after theirs and that it makes it very difficult to provide a happy experience for those who have arrived on time and are waiting for a party that is lingering or who arrived late.
Changes
All changes to a previous reservation must be done so in writing. Telephone calls regarding any reservation changes must be followed up by you in writing, otherwise your changes will not be implemented. You may fax change requests after April 5, 2012; until then you must mail them. A new confirmation letter will then be sent.
Reductions
Reductions to your original reservation will be accepted up to 30 days prior to the reservation date. If you arrive with fewer guests and you did not confirm a reduction to your party 30 days before the dinner date, the deposit for those missing will not be applied to your dinner bill.
Increases
If you receive a confirmation for your request, we are confirming your requested number of people. We will do our best to accept an increase to your party size prior to your dinner date but cannot guarantee it. This is due to the fact that we only have a finite number of chairs and tables and has nothing to do with our unwillingness to accommodate increases. If you arrive the day of your reservation with more people than your confirmation letter states, we will not be able to seat anyone in your party.
Cancellations/Refunds
Reservations completely canceled up to 30 days prior to the dinner date will receive a refund of the deposit, less a $15 cancellation fee. Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the dinner date will not receive a refund.
